We are not useless to God...
1 Corinthians 15:57-58
But thanks be to God who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ! So then, my dear friends, stand firm and steady. Keep busy always in your work for the Lord, since you know that nothing you do in the Lord's service is ever useless.
Bro Stef's Commentary:
So, the other day at our Life Group (Home Bible Study) I was talking with a friend and I said, "Ken, sometimes I feel that the ministry God asked me to do is not progressing as well as I had hoped. I wonder if I'm just waisting my time?"
Of course Ken tried the best he could to reassure me that that was not the case and that God sees what we do and He appreciates it. I went on to share with Ken that when I feel this way I almost always ask the Lord if it's time for me to throw in the towel? God almost always sends me a sign that what I'm doing He does appreciate and in fact, He is empowering me to continue. The sign almost always comes via an email from one of our subscribers who is expressing appreciation for our ministry.
So, should we stop doing good because we feel that our efforts are not as effective as we had hoped for? Should we follow our emotions that are telling us to throw in the towel? The answer is no!
There is an enemy out there that wants us all to give up and stop doing works of righteousness. The Devil does not want the work of God, through us to continue. He will tempt us, discourage us and wisper in our ear, "oh you know Stef if God was in this, your subscriber list would be in the millions by now. God's not with you, this is your imagination... You get the picture...
Well, today as I opened my email I received this scripture 1 Corinthians 15:57-58 and I almost fell out of my chair! Not less than 13 hours ago I was talking to Brother Ken about this and look what I received. Proof positive that God, through His Holy Spirit, does talk to us if we are listening. Let me repeat the scripture.
But thanks be to God who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ! So then, my dear friends, stand firm and steady. Keep busy always in your work for the Lord, since you know that nothing you do in the Lord's service is ever useless.
How I wish I could articulate the joy I felt as those words sank deep into my heart and soul. The Lord and I have gone through this over the last twelve years, many - many times before. He never grows frustrated with me. He never grows impatient and in fact, He's always understanding, loving and kind to me and encourages me to go on and keep doing what He called me to do. It doesn't matter if only 5 or 6,000 are listening. Twelve years ago God called me to partner with Him in this work and all that matters is I follow Him in simple trust, faith, hope, love and obedience. What a God we serve!
I hope this word helps you as it did me.
Peace and Love in Jesus The Messiah,
Shalom v'ahava b'Yeshua Ha'Mashiach

But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief. You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness. Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober. ~1Thessalonians 5:1-6
