1 John Chapter 1:9
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
When John penned these words it was before 70 A.D. and at that time there were Antichrist's in the form of Gnostic's. Basically Gnostic's believe that one is spiritual and saved by what they do predominately, not by who they place their faith in. Therefore, John was countering the trends of his day, and in our vanacular he was saying, let's get real, this is what sin is and this is the solution to it, recognize you are a sinner, confess your sin and yeild your will to God and the "true" God will forgive you your sin.
John's emphasis was on a personal relationship with a living God, not a god of their imaginations, something in the air or a good feeling for doing something good. John wanted the Jews of his day to understand completely, that first, one must exercise faith and the natural affect of that faith would be seen by what we do. Many in his day had it backwards, what you do was more important than what or who you believed in.
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
John gave the Gnostic's of his day something to do, as they were accustomed to. If you do this God will do that... To make confession I first have to believe in God, the Lord Jesus Christ, I must place my faith, even if it is as small as a grain of a mustard seed in Yeshua completely and acknowledge Him as my only doorway to heaven and to eternal life. He is the only one who is qualified to blot out my sin and take me from death to life. Only Yeshua our Messiah can place my name in the book of life. To a Jew, this is everything. To be written in the Book of Life is very important to all Jews!
The question I would ask you, a believer, what are you doing in your life to allow the light of Yeshua to shine through you so that those who are watching can come into a living and personal relationship with God? If you're not a believer, then the first step for you would be to confess with your mouth and believe in your heart that Jesus Christ is the ONLY begotten SON of GOD and ask Him to forgive you of your sin! Please do that now...
This is what the will of God is for all of us, that our faith would move us to good works and to serving God and mankind with the love of Christ as our motivator!
Proverbs 3:27-28
Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, When it is in the power of your hand to do so. Do not say to your neighbor, "Go, and come back, And tomorrow I will give it," When you have it with you. [NKJV ]
James 2:14-26
What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, and one of you says to them, "Depart in peace, be warmed and filled," but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. But someone will say, "You have faith, and I have works." Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works. You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe--and tremble! But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead? as not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered Isaac his son on the altar? Do you see that faith was working together with his works, and by works faith was made perfect? And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, "Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness." And he was called the friend of God. You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only. Likewise, was not Rahab the harlot also justified by works when she received the messengers and sent them out another way? For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.
Remember, the Lord loves us more than any of us will ever know. After all, He died and shed His blood for us and held nothing back!

'But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet and the people are not warned, and a sword comes and takes a person from them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood I will require from the watchman's hand.' Ezekiel 33:6
But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief. You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness. Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober. 1Thessalonians 5:1-6
“My hand will be against the prophets who see false visions and utter lying divinations. They will not belong to the council of my people or be listed in the records of the house of Israel, nor will they enter the land of Israel. Then you will know that I am the Sovereign LORD. Because they lead my people astray, saying, ‘Peace,’ when there is no peace …” Ezekiel 13:9-10
