DEBKAfile Exclusive Report July 9, 2013, 10:14 AM (IDT)
The holy Muslim month of Ramadan beginning in the Middle East Tuesday, July 9, heralds more, rather than less, bloodshed. After at least 51 deaths in a Cairo shootout Monday, Egypt’s military chief Gen. Abdel Fattah El-Sisi rebuffed US diplomatic efforts to bring the various political forces in the country around the table for dialogue. The high military council is divided on this: One faction urges a relentless crackdown on the Muslim Brotherhood and its deposed president; a second, led by Gen. El-Sisi, says they mustn’t be cowed by the backlash to Monday’s incident, but should keep the political process for a new and stable government on track In line with this perception, Provisional President Justice Adli Mansour issued a decree Tuesday for elections to a new parliament in February 2014, followed immediately by voting for a new president. He did not fix a precise date. No one expects this decree to tranquilize the turmoil in the country or deter the Brothers from an uprising (intifada) declared against the powers that unseated them after Egyptian soldiers shot dead at least 51 of their supporters. They were accused by the army of trying to storm the Republican Guards Club in Cairo where deposed president Mohamed Morsi is held. The Brothers claimed they were just holding a peaceful sit-in.
The generals have geared up to meet this threat, which appears to have been kicked off Monday with attacks on strategic targets across Egypt - carried out, according to DEBKAfile’s military sources, by the Brotherhood’s armed underground, Al-Gihas al-Sirri.
Bro Stef's Comments:
As I prepare for a prophecy radio show I have been asked to be a guest on, I have been reading the prophecy about Egypt, Syria and Israel in Isaiah 19. This portion of scripture happens to be one of my favorites because of the hope that the Lord gives us in this scripture towards the end of the prophecy.
This prophecy tells of coming destruction to the armies of the Northern King (Syria) and the King of the South (Egypt); see Daniel 11:40 as well. Towards the end of the prophecy God tells us that He will reunite the Egyptians, Syrians and the Jews in peace and harmony just like He intended from the beginning! What a day that will be.
In order to get to that place however, these peoples will have to go through hell and suffer great loss on all sides so that they will be sufficiently humbled so their hearts will be able to accept Yeshua's plan for all of them. Look at verses 16-25. I have highlighted those verses that show the gift the Lord gives to all three groups of people. I love how God asks something of them and then gives them something much bigger in return.
In that day Egypt will be like women, and will be afraid and fear because of the waving of the hand of the Lord of hosts, which He waves over it. And the land of Judah will be a terror to Egypt; everyone who makes mention of it will be afraid in himself, because of the counsel of the Lord of hosts which He has determined against it. In that day five cities in the land of Egypt will speak the language of Canaan and swear by the Lord of hosts; one will be called the City of Destruction. In that day there will be an altar to the Lord in the midst of the land of Egypt, and a pillar to the Lord at its border. And it will be for a sign and for a witness to the Lord of hosts in the land of Egypt; for they will cry to the Lord because of the oppressors, and He will send them a Savior and a Mighty One, and He will deliver them. Then the Lord will be known to Egypt, and the Egyptians will know the Lord in that day, and will make sacrifice and offering; yes, they will make a vow to the Lord and perform it. And the Lord will strike Egypt, He will strike and heal it; they will return to the Lord, and He will be entreated by them and heal them. In that day there will be a highway from Egypt to Assyria, and the Assyrian will come into Egypt and the Egyptian into Assyria, and the Egyptians will serve with the Assyrians. In that day Israel will be one of three with Egypt and Assyria--a blessing in the midst of the land, whom the Lord of hosts shall bless, saying, "Blessed is Egypt My people, and Assyria the work of My hands, and Israel My inheritance."
Isn't this what God has done for us as well? He asks us to surrender to Him and then He gives us "eternal life." Just amazing! He always gives more than He requires from us!
For verses 16-25 to take place as you can see in the scripture above the Egyptians and Assyrians are going to suffer greatly. How does this fit into the headline above?
I truly believe that what we are seeing in the Middle East right now is the preparation of the nations to go through the judgement of God in the tribulation period. Dictators and Kings are being shuffled like a deck of cards and the same is happening with political, social and economic issues in these countries and in the world for that matter.
It seems to me that God is changing the entire landscape of the Middle East right in front of our eyes. I also believe that the judgement of the nations within the Middle East, including Israel, will get so severe it will spill over to the entire globe, setting the stage for that period of time that the Lord Jesus talked about in Matthew 24:21-22...
For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be. And unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved; but for the elect's sake those days will be shortened.
Though Egypt and Syria are beginning to experience perilous times in their respective countries, the Bible tells us in Isaiah 19 that one day Egypt, Syria and Israel will all dwell together in complete peace and harmony. I can't wait to see that day!
Please listen to a radio show I was invited to speak at:
In conclusion, it seems that the globe and not just the Middle East are undergoing dramatic shifts and changes, so dramatic it is causing me to stay on the alert and to be sure that I am living within the Lord's will. Being ready and alert is of huge importance right now and by being ready and alert we fulfill the Lord's command to us found in Matthew 24:42-51.
Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming. But know this, that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into. Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect. "Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his master made ruler over his household, to give them food in due season? Blessed is that servant whom his master, when he comes, will find so doing. Assuredly, I say to you that he will make him ruler over all his goods. But if that evil servant says in his heart, 'My master is delaying his coming,' and begins to beat his fellow servants, and to eat and drink with the drunkards, the master of that servant will come on a day when he is not looking for him and at an hour that he is not aware of, and will cut him in two and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites. There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Allow me to encourage you to stay on your guard, pay attention to what is transpiring around you and most certaintly pray about what you see and what is heavy on your heart.
Now is time to make sure you have a living breathing personal relationship with Yeshua, Jesus our Messiah. This is not the time to ease up and stray or drift away from our Lord. This is the time to draw close to the Lord just as Paul admonished us in Hebrews 10:25, "as we see the day (His Return) approaching..."

'But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet and the people are not warned, and a sword comes and takes a person from them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood I will require from the watchman's hand.' Ezekiel 33:6
But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief. You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness. Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober. 1Thessalonians 5:1-6
“My hand will be against the prophets who see false visions and utter lying divinations. They will not belong to the council of my people or be listed in the records of the house of Israel, nor will they enter the land of Israel. Then you will know that I am the Sovereign LORD. Because they lead my people astray, saying, ‘Peace,’ when there is no peace …”
